Where to Cruise From Napton
Braunston
is a 2.5 hour lock free trip on The Oxford Canal - or take a left turn onto
The Grand Union and the three double width locks at Calcutt and on towards the
Stockton flight passing (or not) The Boat pub. Heading in the other direction
takes you quickly to the pretty flight of 7 single locks at Napton on the Hill,
overlooked by the windmill, a local landmark. Whichever way you choose to go
the scenery is stunning.
This
attractive canalside pub is home to Bumble, the smaller of our day boats. The
pub is easily reached by road being 7 miles from Daventry on the A 425 and a
couple of miles from Southam. There is safe parking available for hirers. Home
cooked food and real ales are a speciality here and boaters are made welcome
for a nice pint and perhaps a meal on return from a day of cruising.Theres also
a large garden to relax in.
